During the year
2002, the Fontana Police Department received over 3400 9-1-1 hang ups.
Emergency personnel must trace every abandoned phone call and it was determined
that many of these calls were made by children ages 4-7.
School Resource
Officers from Fontana Police will be conducting presentations at the local
elementary schools to teach children when it is appropriate to use 9-1-1 and
when not to. The presentations will include video instructions on how and
when to call and what to say to the 9-1-1 operator.
